John Phillips – Training and Consultancy Manager

BSc (Hons), CMIOSH

John served in the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm, working on advanced electronic navigation and weapon delivery systems. During this time John's interest in health and safety began, to be further developed during his time as a technical instructor and then as a Safety and Quality Manager within the railway infrastructure industry. John became a Health and Safety Consultant at RoSPA in 1996, where he was involved in a variety of training and consultancy activities, including the design and delivery of the society's NEBOSH Diploma courses.

Following successive promotions John became the Training and Consultancy Manager at RoSPA, leading a team of twelve health and safety consultants in the delivery of services to organisations in the UK and around the world. Immediately prior to joining Norwich Union Risk Services John was involved in the development and accreditation of the new NEBOSH Diploma and Certificate courses.

John has extensive knowledge of electrical safety issues, risk management principles and human factors. John has recently completed a BSc Honours Degree in Psychology with the Open University.
